I General
RENHE Automatic Transfer Switch (abb. as ATS) adopts the world-famous automatic transfer switch or AC contactor as the main switch, equipped with Process Control Board (PCB) of perfect control and thunder-proof function. It is manufactured under the strict process. It is used as the automatic transfer system on all RENHE ? automatic generator sets and the automatic generator sets of other brands.
PCB installed behind the easy-access door is applied to the 3 phase or single phase system of 220 VAC. And the PCB is connected to the other equipment by a connector pin which enables the easy taking off during the service, testing or replacing work.
Model of the ATS:
KX 800A : KX means the serial no ( KX 、 KI 、 KXI ); 800A means the current capacity.(Rated current of the main switch)
II. Function
1. KX Series
KX has not the control function as starting the generator sets after delay, mains recovery delay, voltage test and so on. It can be equipped with the automatic generator sets and transfer the load by the control panel of the generator. KX series can be matched with RENHE 8200 , 8800 automatic control system and other generator sets which has the ATS automatic control function. So the KX series is more economical and simple.

KI Series
The KI Series has the perfect control functions as mains recovery delay, mains failure delay, switch transferring blind-spot delay, generator on load delay, generator cooling down delay, thunder-proof functions and so on. The KI Series have the functions of 3 phase test, voltage peak value and BH test. The Series can be used with any automatic generator which enables the remote-start. With only two control cables, the KI can be connected onto the generator easily. So the KI can control the generator to start, shutdown and transfer the load automatically.

MCT : 3MIN
GST : 5MIN
GCT : 10SEC
DBT : 2SEC
MFT : 2SEC
G . VOLT. SET : 190VAC : 190VAC
The parameters can be adjusted within the available range on the requirement of the users. But the unsuitable parameter will cause the default of the ATS or incapable of operating, so only professional technician can handle the adjustment.
3. KXI Series
In order to meet the requirement from the users, RENHE designed KXI ATS (double standby) to two sets of generator as the stand-by electric supply way. The user can set one of the generators as predominant stand-by one. When the predominant one defaults, the other one will start automatically, and supply the electric source to the load. In this way can the reliability can be ensured.
KXI series ATS is made up of a KI Transfer Switchgear and a KX generator control switchgear. KI Transfer switchgear has the same function as the above KI Series, and the control status and modes are as the following:
Control Mode : Gen1 / Gen2
LED Status indicator : Gen1 On load
Gen2 On load
III Rated current, specification and installation of the ATS
KX, KI and KXI series are of 80A-3150A current capacity, with the same dimensions, installation ways and the specification of the main switches.
ATS of 80A and 125A are wall-mounted ones and others are floor standing ones. Wall-mounted ones pre-leave the room under the container for main cable and control cables, while floor standing ones have the removable board to connect the cable. And the vertical sides of the containers can be taken down, installed and tested easily.
In 80A-350A ATS, the ABB contactors are adopted as the main switches. With the reliable electric closedown circuit, original mechanical closedown facilities, the Mains contactors are ensured not to switch on when the Generator contactors are closed. French originated Socomec transfer switches are adopted in the ones above 400A, which are warmly welcomed by the users for their high-quality and beautiful structure and design.

IV Operation Instruction
1. KX Series
1.1 Automatic mode
1.1.1 Set the control switch on the ATS panel to “Auto” position, the generator set is in automatic mode.
1.1.2 When the Mains is available, the Mains available and Mains on load lights turn on.
1.1.3 The generator starts automatically by the local control panel when the Mains is off or in wrong.
1.1.4 Generator Available light turns on after the generator starts and voltage is normal. After the control panel on Generator sends the demand to be on load, the ATS turns to the generator side automatically, and the Generator On Load light turns on.
1.1.5 Mains Available light turns on after the Mains is normal. After the control panel on the Generator sends the demand to transfer the load to the Mains, the ATS turns to the Mains automatically, and the Generator On Load light turns off while the Mains On Load turns on.
1.2 Manual Mode
1.2.1 User can set the control switch on ATS to “Gen” position during operation no matter the Mains works normally or not. The Generator will start automatically. After the generator voltage is normal, the ATS will turn to Generator which then will be on load.
1.2.2 User can set the control switch on ATS to “Mains” position during operation. If the Mains is normal, the ATS will turn to the Mains (the Generator will shutdown automatically if in operation.). The generator will not start automatically in this situation no matter the Mains is normal or not.
1.2.3 User can set the generator as manual if the user wants to start the generator manually when Mains is off or works wrong during operation. After reaching the normal voltage, set the control switch on the ATS on “Gen” position. The ATS will turn to the Generator which is on load then.
2.KI series
2.1 Auto mode
2.1.1 Set the control switch on the ATS as “Auto”.
2.1.2 The “Mains Available” and “Mains On Load” indicator lights will turn on when the Mains in on load.
2.1.3 The “Mains Available” and “Mains On Load” indicator lights turn off when the Mains if off. The KI ATS sends the demand to start the generator after pre-set delay time (Demand will not be sent within the delay time if the Mains is normal). The Generator set is controlled by the control panel to start after delay time. The “Gen Available” indicator light turns on after the voltage is normal. As for Socomec switches, set the GCT pre-set delay time as 0 and keeps DBT pre-set time. After the DBT delay time, the ATS turns from 0 position to Generator set. As for ABB contactors, after the GCT pre-set delay time, the contactor opens first, and then the contactor switches on after the DBT pre-set delay time.
2.1.4 The Mains Available indicator light turns on when the Mains if normal (set by M.VOLT. Set and M.VOLT. Diff sets). After the pre-set MCT, as for Socomec switch, the ATS will turn to “0” position and keeps the pre-set period in DBT, and turns to the Mains position. As for the ABB contactor, the contactor on the Genset side disconnects first after the pre-set MCT time, and then the contactor on the Mains side closes after the DBT time. At this time, the Gen On Load indicator light turns off while the Mains On Load indicator light turns on. If the Mains fails within the MCT time, the ATS will not transfer the load to the Mains.
2.1.5 After the Mains is on load, GST begins to starts. The demand to start the generator will be cancelled and the generator stops. And the Gen Available light turns off.
2.1.6 Should the Mains is off for a short time (0-60 seconds available) when the Mains is on load, the generator will not start in order not to start the generator too often.
2.2 No-load test mode
2.2.1 Turn the control switch on ATS in “TEST1” position
2.2.2 KI ATS will send the starting demand to the control panel on the generator set no matter the Mains is normal or not. The generator will start after the delay time. When KI ATS receives the correct voltage information, Gen Available indicator light turns on, but the ATS will not turn to Generator set, and the Gen On Load indicator light will not turn on.
2.3 On load Test Mode
2.3.1 Set the control switch on the ATS as “TEST2”.
2.3.2 The “Mains Available” and “Mains On Load” indicator lights will turn off no matter the Mains is normal or not and the Generator starts after delay time.
2.3.3 Gen Available indicator light turns on when KI ATS receives the normal voltage information and starts the Generator. After the pre-set GTC time, the ATS will turn to the Generator side and Generator On Load light turns on.
3.KXI ( double-standby ) Series
User can set the predominant one through the control panel on the Generator according to t the requirement. After KI switchgear receives the starting demand, the predominant one should start automatically. After the normal voltage is set up, KX switchgear will turn to the predominant one, Gen1 On load or Gen2 On load indicator light turns on. After the GCT time, the main switch on KI switchgear will turn to Generator side which will be on load, while the Generator On Load indicator light turns on. If the predominant one fails during the period, the secondary one will star automatically and be on load.
V. Troubleshooting
